Haze is a strain with interesting origins. Its still somewhat a mystery as to how the strain came to be and has many stories of legends and ...
While the genetics of the Jack Herer strain show it as being 55%-60% sativa (making it a hybrid if it was any other strain) the effects are very similar to a sativa dominant strain. This is why many places will label Jack Herer as a sativa even though the genetic percentages line up to hybrid levels.
This strain was named after the cannabis activist Jack Herer who dedicated his life to the research and knowledge of cannabis while evoking others to make cannabis legal again. He greatly inspired the cannabis community and helped make the world a better place.

Jack Herer Flavors & Aroma
Jack Herer has flavors of pine and earth with the smell being very similar to the taste. I would liken it to the smell of throwing pine branches/bark onto a campfire. The higher notes have a bit of citrus and spice to them.
Jack Herer Strain Effects
The potent genetics of the Haze strain are very dominant in Jack Herer. Considering that the other 2 parents are heavy indicas, Jack Herer has very energizing, focusing and creative effects. Many of the sedative/relaxing indica effects it would get from Shiva Skunk and Northern Lights are practically non-existent.
The negative effects are dry eyes and mouth (which is common in many strains). Depending on the THC levels its tested at, some people may experience paranoia if they’ve taken too much. This is also due to the low CBD levels (which help counteract effects of THC) but this is not specific to the Jack Herer strain.
Jack Herer CBD & THC Levels
The THC levels of Jack Herer are testing from 15% on the low end and 24% at the highest. This will depend on the breeder and whether its and autoflower version or feminized version. The Jack Herer autoflower will generally test a little lower since it also contains ruderalis genetics.
CBD levels of Jack Herer are very low testing below 1%.
Medical Benefits of Jack Herer Strain
Jack Herer’s medical benefits go hand in hand with it’s effects. Helping to manage stress levels and fatigue are some of the first noticeable benefits. Some of the physically relaxing benefits along with the effects from the THC also help to manage pain. Because of the uplifting effects this can help combat depression and lethargy, helping top put the mind at ease.
Commercial Uses of Jack Herer
Jack Herer would be a great strain to make daytime use products from. Cannabis infused coffees and teas with Jack Herer would be great additions to the emerging cannabis beverage industry and a celebration of the man’s dedication to making it legal. Waxes, shatters, extracts and oils would be very marketable products to those customers for using them during the day.
Terpenes produced in Jack Herer Plant are as follows:

How to Grow Jack Herer Strain
- Flowering Time & Production Indoors
- Flowering time indoors will be between 7-10 weeks
- Can grow over 6ft (1.8 meters)
- Can yield up to 400-500 grams per plant
- Flowering Time & Production Outdoors
- Its best to flower Jack Herer in late summer early fall around October
- When grown outdoors in the proper dry climate you can expect around 550 grams per plant
Its not the easiest strain to grow but also not the hardest. Some experience growing cannabis would provide better success with growing Jack Herer but it’s not necessary. Like many cannabis plants once you get the hange of it, they are easy to grow and Jack Herer is a very hearty plant. The Haze genetics again are very dominant in this plant as the height (like a lot of sativas) can grow over 6ft (1.8 meters) so be sure to have plenty of overhead space if growing indoors.
Depending on the type of Jack Herer strain and which breeder it comes from, it can be labeled as a hybrid or a sativa dominant hybrid. Its generally known as a sativa because of its effects. Because of this, its still a great strain to use during the day or an early rise. Jack Herer kicks the brain into gear and gives you that boost of creativity that is often hard to find early in the morning.
Jack Herer will live on through this strain and will forever be a reminder of his passion, research, dedication, and sacrifice all in helping make cannabis legal not only through his actions but by inspiring and educating what has added up to millions of people. Not only is the cannabis strain one of his legacies but also his book The Emperor Wears No Clothes.
