Lemon OG Kush Strain Information

lemon og kush cannabis strain

There are few cannabis strains that have an expected smell to how they look. The Lemon OG Kush strain is one of those. With its bright green leaves and bright green flower buds with yellow hairs… it looks like it should have a smell of citrus and lemons and tastes a lot like how its smells. With one genetic parent winning the Cannabis Cup multiple times and the both genetic parents producing high levels of THC, we have a hybrid that has made it’s mark.

Lemon OG Kush Cannabis Plant

Lemon OG Kush Lineage & Appearance

Lemon OG Kush comes as a result of combining Lemon Skunk and OG #18 (a phenotype of OG Kush) both of which are hybrids.

  • Lemon Skunk
    • Indicative of it’s name, has lemon, citrus and skunk like aromas & flavors
    • Hybrid that grows very tall in height
    • Produces high levels of THC
  • OG #18
    • Stems from OG Kush and produces earthy, diesel fuel aromas
    • Hybrid leaning toward indica dominance
    • Won 2 Cannabis Cup Awards in 2009/2010

The cannabis plant itself is bright green and very leafy. The flower buds are also bright green with yellow pistils and frosty white trichomes all over.

Lemon OG Kush Flavors & Aroma

Even though this strain has a skunky aroma, the flavors of Lemon OG Kush are earthy, lemony and citrus. Thankfully does not inherit the skunky flavor of it’s Lemon Skunk parent, making a much more pleasant experience for some that mind the flavor.

The cannabis terpenes responsible for creating the lemon flavor in this strain are Limonene, Alpha Pinene, Myrcene, Humulene and Beta Caryophyllene. The full terpene profile is listed below.

Lemon OG Kush Strain Effects

Some hybrids can vary quite a lot depending on the phenotype. Sometimes they may lean to be more indica dominant than balanced which in turn provide different yet similar effects. In this case, Lemon OG Kush can have effects that are much like any hybrid sparking creativity and focus… but if it is more indica dominant (has more kush genetics) it may have those same effects while producing some “sleepy” or more relaxing properties.

Lemon OG Kush would be better suited for the evening and winding down if the particular strain is leaning more toward the indica side. For those that are less affected by the relaxing effects this strain can be very focusing inspiring creativity. At the end of the day I could imagine this strain being useful for relaxing, de-stressing and getting some thoughts out on paper or a sit down creative activity like drawing, art or pottery.

If the Lemon OG Kush strain is leaning more toward the balanced 50/50 hybrid, it would be ideal for the middle of the day and doing outdoor recreational activities like a day at the park, playing with the dog or going for a walk.

Lemon OG Kush Strain THC & CBD Levels

Levels of THC in Lemon OG Kush range from 18-24% THC. Most varieties of this strain you’ll find contain an average of 20% THC. CBD content is on the low side usually around 1% CBD or lower.

Pro Tip: if the THC levels in this strain prove to be to much, a great way to balance out the effects & come down from the high is to use some liquid CBD oil. CBD helps to balance out some of the intense effects caused by too much THC.

Medical Benefits of Lemon OG Kush

Many users report Lemon OG Kush being beneficial for pain, stress and insomnia. Since this strain has high THC levels its also beneficial for helping to stimulate appetite which may be good for those undergoing treatments that affect how hungry they usually get. The higher THC levels in this cannabis strain may be beneficial for certain mood disorders in some individuals in regards to ailments like PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Commercial Uses

If the Lemon OG Kush strain is more on the indica side it would have less daytime “functional” sativa like effects and be better suited for medicinal purposes and evening use so products created around that would be ideal.

If the phenotype of Lemon OG Kush is more on the balanced 50/50 hybrid side it could be better suited for daytime functional uses and products that can be used throughout the day. Lemon OG Kush produces the following terpene profile.

  • Nerlidiol 2: 0.30%
  • Alpha Pinene: 0.28%
  • Beta Caryophyllene: 0.22%
  • Myrcene: 0.21%
  • Limonene: 0.19%
  • Humulene: 0.19%
  • Beta Pinene: 0.16%
  • Linalool: 0.13%
  • Caryophyllene Oxide: 0.11%
  • Eucalyptol: 0.08%
  • Camphene: 0.08%
  • Terpinolene: 0.08%
  • Isopulegol: 0.08%
  • Delta 3 Carene: 0.07%
  • Beta Ocimene: 0.05%
  • Terpinene: 0.04%
  • Nerolidiol 1: 0.01%
